| Israel's
Vice Premier and Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr.
Ehud Olmert, visited C.D.I. Systems this weekend on
the occasion of the launching of the company's new
technology, NetIS - an electronic publishing platform
that enables the sale of quality content on the internet
while securing the intellectual property rights of
the content's owner.
Accompanying Minister Olmert on his visit to the
company were Dr. Eli Opper, the Chief Scientist and
Mr. Samuel Mordechai, the director of the Israel Investment
Center (IIC). During the hour and a half visit, the
company demonstrated its new technology, and Mr.
Olmert met with the company's 40 employees.
During the visit, Mr. Olmert expressed his belief
in the indispensable necessity of continued technological
innovation. "Although I am not an expert
in technological issues, my instincts tell me that
the technology of secure sales of Internet content
is a very promising niche"
Mr. Olmert expressed his surprise that the company
has yet to receive financial assistance from either
the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) or from the
IIC, and noted that since the company did not
use government funds during the stage of product development,
it will be deserving of receiving funds during the
stage of business development - in the framework of
the Fund for Marketing Support. (The status of the
fund is currently unclear due to the decision of the
Finance Ministry to freeze its budget).
The Minister requested from the company's management
to continue its operations in Jerusalem, and promised
that if the availability of office space in the Har
Hotzvim Industrial Park will not meet the companies
growth, he, being responsible for developing development
areas, will see to it that the Park will be enlarged.
