C.D.I. Systems Announces the launch of Otzar-Hahochma project
JERUSALEM---February 16, 2005--C.D.I. Systems Ltd., a developer of online publishing solutions,
announced the launch of another large-scale project based on NetIS™
- its superb online publishing platform.
The project is the Internet publishing of the World's Largest Online Jewish Library: Otzar
Ha-Hochma (Hebrew for Treasure of Wisdom). The Online, unique library of Otzar Ha-Hochma contains
over 16,000 Jewish books & roughly four million pages including thousands of extremely rare books
that have not been published for hundreds of years and are now accessible to everyone.
NetIS™ - the platform of choice for this project - provides users
with novel technological capabilities, applied to precious, hard-to-obtain content.
With NetIS™, Otzar Ha-Hochma publishers benefit from the mass-market
exposure of the repository. Thanks to NetIS™ online publishing
platform, this valuable resource can be placed on the Web without fear that the content will be
stolen. The information is made available using various access models, based on predefined DRM
(Digital Rights Management) profiles. Licensing options range from annual full-privilege
subscriptions to limited usage privileges (e.g. the right for view content only, without the
ability to print, save, or select for copy and paste). Limited usage relies on cumulative measuring
of pages viewed from a selected book. By using NetIS™ capabilities,
it is easy to create versatile sales models and satisfy the clientele.
Otzar Ha-Hochma users can now search and browse categorized representation of the repository,
preview books, and purchase the rights to view or print the books, using
NetIS™ advanced DRM technology and seamless e-commerce integration.
With NetIS™, universities, libraries, colleges & Yeshivas can
purchase site licenses, while individual scholars around the world can also purchase portions
from this vast database at flexible price models.
Otzar Ha-Hochma Library consists of books from every branch of Judaica and Jewish History and
is more comprehensive than anything ever available before. Among these are early editions of
well-known books; reproductions of manuscripts and first editions; pamphlets; periodicals;
Torah collections published in single editions and much more. An extensive and detailed subject
catalog enables quick and easy access to the repository.
The Otzar Ha-Hochma project has already been described as the greatest revolution since the
printing press.
