The prestigious European Pharmacopoeia (EDQM) adopts C.D.I. Systems' NetIS™ technology

May 31 2007, STRASBOURG/ JERUSALEM --- EDQM (http://www.edqm.eu/) - The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & Healthcare - and C.D.I. Systems (http://www.cdisys.com/), the developer of NetIS™ - an innovative online publishing platform - announced recently the signing of an agreement for the deployment of NetIS on the European Pharmacopoeia - a reference work for the quality control of medicines and substances for pharmaceutical use.

EDQM chose C.D.I. Systems' NetIS platform because it is an advanced online publication tool that integrates a high-performance user management back office and excellent data protection capabilities. The platform will make it possible for EDQM to better manage its global licenses while providing its users with an efficient information retrieval tool.

The European Pharmacopoeia is a single reference work for the quality control of medicines in Europe. It contains over 2000 monographs on preparations and substances, nearly 300 general methods of analysis and 2400 reagents, all of which are legally binding, compliance being enforced by the administrative or juridical authorities. The texts of the European Pharmacopoeia cover active substances, excipients, substances or preparations for pharmaceutical use of chemical, animal, human or herbal origin, homoeopathic preparations and homoeopathic stocks, antibiotics, as well as dosage forms and containers. They also apply to biological, blood and plasma derivatives, vaccines and to radiopharmaceutical preparations. The European Pharmacopoeia is applicable during the development, production and marketing of medicines. Reference is made to its quality specifications in marketing authorization dossiers. The European Pharmacopoeia is also used by manufacturers and national and European health authorities to check the quality of medicines.

"We are pleased to deploy our technology within a prestigious European entity such as EDQM" said Itzhak Levit, CEO of C.D.I. Systems. "This new agreement is part of the company strategy to continue expanding its presence in Europe and US and gain further worldwide acknowledgment and added "We have been utilizing many of the new features implemented in NetIS latest release – version 4.2, including the Clientless DRM capabilities and the strong auditing and reporting tools, that will supply EDQM with up to the minute information regarding the product's safety, product's consumption, customers activities and commercial transactions".

About the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines

The EDQM & HealthCare of the Council of Europe is one of the main “harmonizing and coordinating” European organizations involved in standardizing, regulating and controlling the quality of medicines. Set up in 1964 with the signature of the European Pharmacopoeia Convention (http://www.edqm.eu/medias/fichiers/convention_pheur1.pdf), the EDQM’s activities were extended in 1994 to other areas concerning medicines for human and veterinary use. From the beginning, it has developed its activities in close collaboration with the European Union and other partner organizations to promote the implementation of a coherent regulatory framework that satisfies public health needs.
