People of the eBooks™
Sept. 13, 2011, JERUSALEM, ISRAEL - Anybody who has been tracking the world of eBooks over the last year must be dizzy from the constant news of new products and new services. From website giants like Google and Amazon to products like the iPad (which we all thought had won the day) and then came Android and soon even Amazon, besides their Kindle, will be introducing their tablet as well.
CDI has decided to show the traditional publishing world that NetIS is exactly the "white label" engine they are dreaming about. To do so CDI will be launching shortly a new website called People of the eBooks where publishers will be able to witness a live site, generating sales of eBooks as well as printed books, numerous features and all at a very affordable price.
We've observed that small and medium size publishing house for many years were afraid to play in the eBook world. But with the advent of household names providing services they stepped forward. Within a short period of time they realized there is a market in eBooks beyond their wildest expectations. Then came the rude wakeup call - playing ball with the big boys wasn't on an even playing field.

Small and medium size publishers were quickly losing their branding, the customer loyalty and a large chunk of their revenue - without collecting any usage data! Many platforms popped up in the market offering a "full ePublishing solution" but sadly, after a large capital outlay it became apparent that the gap between the sizzle and the steak was more than they bargained for. The feature list offered was often weak at best and the power they had seen on the giant websites was nowhere to be found on these platforms. Shame.
NetIS™ technology showcases Watermarking
Sept. 8, 2011, JERUSALEM, ISRAEL ---
DRM (Digital Rights Management) or, in street language, "protection of content" has become the talk of the eBook town. From Guru's in the New York area insisting that the future is in hermetically sealed environments, like digital clean rooms, where no one can touch content to social media experts in London exposing the concept of "people's DRM" - leaving the decision up to the end user and social pressure.
CDI's NetIS has long been known for its strong DRM both on and offline. But given the push for social media, CDI has now introduced watermarking. CDI's watermarking is dynamic and embedded on the fly allowing Administration the freedom to choose text, image, and graphic density and more as well as determining placement on the page and correlations to particular users and/or groups. Watermarking will allow people to share their eBooks with family and friends, just like people do today with printed books. But when someone steps over the line and publically posts the book their watermark will identify them and the "social media" will report them to the rightful content owner. Will it work? Only time will tell. Can it work? CDI makes it possible.
