CDI Leads DRM Panel at Asian Digital Publishing Conference
December 6th, 2012 – Beijing, China
CDI’s COO, Gedaliah Gurfein, was invited to host the panel on “Development on Digital Rights Management (DRM)” at this year’s Asian Digital Publishing Awards Summit. Standing before over two hundred leaders in the Chinese publishing industry, Mr. Gurfein’s panel included Mr. Fabrizio Lo Cicero from Milan, Italy’s Mondadori, a digital design company working with Chinese fashion and Interior Design magazines operating on the iPad, Ms. Pan Ruotian, the copyright manager for The Commercial Press International (China) and Ms. Peng Ling, the Vice Director for Digital Technology from Higher Education Press (China).
“DRM is a major issue for both foreign and local publishers here in China,” Mr. Gurfein addressed the audience. “Unfortunately, China has a reputation where protection of IP and digital properties is of great concern. Still, it is important to note how far the Chinese government has come to reverse this notion and assure that the Chinese market is a safe and welcoming place for business.”
“Many people have come to the show specifically to hear this panel,” Said Ms. Melody Zhang, a coordinator of the event. “They have come with a lot of questions and they want answers. We choose Mr. Gurfein because we know that Israel is famous for security technology and that CDI has been a leader in ePublishing since the market came to life.”
“Personally, I find China a very exciting place to be,” Mr. Gurfein said after the panel. “Last the publishing market in China turned over 272billion dollars in revenue. And yet they are just on the wave of moving into the digital world.”
Julia Chen, CDI’s China Director, added, “At our booth we met with so many giant publishing houses really excited about our platform. They were extra surprised to find out that our technology is fully operational in Chinese!”
