Most existing methods for protecting digital content focus on the use
of a proprietary "reader" to decrypt and control access. Other methods provide a DRM
solution as a service that usually is not cost effective and requires a high level of
integration. Customers are usually discouraged from using these methods because of the
inconvenience of having to download cumbersome "clients" onto their local computer.
NetIS™ highly secure, browser-based approach enables
content owners to assign usage rights controls on entire collections or on individual pieces
of content. Standard browsing functions like viewing, copying, screen capturing, saving and
printing can be independently authorized or denied. Furthermore, these controlled functions
can be limited by time or number of uses factors (e.g. view document for 5 minutes, or allow
printing for only 3 pages).
This in depth granularity of the NetIS™ DRM module enables the content
owner to safeguard his premium content without sacrificing the advantages of smart sale scenarios.
The DRM controls can be set over individual items or groups of content.
NetIS™ DRM offers different levels of security, ranging from
non-intrusive technologies as AJAX, to more robust solutions based on plug-in for Gecko based browsers
or ActiveX component for IE.
NetIS™ Mobile DRM uses industry encryption standards and supports
Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standard for protection of data on 3G mobile devices.
