NetIS offline™ is an extension tool, providing the mechanism and utilities to export NetIS application
to be available in a server-less environment (such as hard disk installation, DVD, Disk on Key, memory cards etc')
In transporting NetIS applications to a standalone and offline state, NetIS offline had to face security issue of offline content
which is easier to hack, such as data encryption, application activation (over the internet or the phone)
based on specific machine details, disk Time bomb and predefined expiration dates.
NetIS offline includes an administrator interface in NetIS back office, which allows the definition and creation of the offline application;
wraps and converts the server based technology and application database to an installable windows application
(with the necessary changes and configuration i.e. authentication, tables of content, content encryption etc').
The local application includes the NetIS offline server - an offline mini web server that communicates with the browser,
configured to listen to a specific port number, and monitor a specific virtual directory.
NetIS offline server will be invoked only when the NetIS offline application will be loaded, and will only run within the application processes.
Once the application closes, NetIS offline server will also unload.
Creating an offline application through NetIS Online Publishing platform is very easy.
Once an Online application is configured and Indexed, a NetIS administrator with proper rights may invoke the Offline application
generator, and using simple wizards in the interface define the application's configuration, look and feel, security methods etc'.
The administrator will than update the relevant NetIS Customer details, to include Offline rights -
and so enable offline license generating and standalone activation and expiration details.
Using NetIS reporting utilities, NetIS administrators would be able to access the offline events and reports,
generated by NetIS offline - according to the offline configuration details - and communicated back to the NetIS online publishing server,
for further audit of the customer's offline activities.
Added offline permissions allow a variety of users controlled access to electronic documents from anywhere in the world
as well as provide publishers the ability to control their access, fulfilling the "Publish once Publish everywhere"
paradigm NetIS carries to its customers.
